Several years ago I sat on the tarmac at DFW airport for five and half hours waiting for weather to clear in Newark. There was a family right behind me with two kids, and by the time we finally left, the kids had eaten all the bars and bagels, chewed all the gum, and drawn on most of the paper and post-its I had in my bag. And, I'm not sure that the other passengers appreciated that I'd shown the older daughter how to fold paper airplanes. At the time, my boys were about the same age, so feeling for the parents, I had offered whatever I had in my bag, and after an hour they had taken me up on the offer.
I tell this story because it's in the same spirit that I'm offering this website. Like you, my fellow traveller in life, I'm improvising as I go, so I don't want to act like I've got answers necessarily. But, there are some things I've learned that I carry in my bag of experience that I think might be helpful.
